Ascle+ Research

Overview

Independent research with guidance and purpose.
Each project combines short methods and ethics seminars with mentored, non-clinical inquiry — observational, desk, or data-based.
Participants work with both a faculty mentor and an HCISR supervisor to ensure academic quality, compliance, and contextual relevance.

The Ascle+ Mentored Research Track offers short, guided research experiences in Athens.
Students pursue focused projects in areas such as public health, neuroscience, biomedicine, or medical humanities, pairing academic seminars with mentored, independent work.
Research is non-clinical and may include literature analysis, secondary data work, or field-adjacent observation.

By the end of the program, participants will be able to:
• Frame a clear, feasible research or inquiry question
• Apply basic methods appropriate to their topic (literature, data, or field-adjacent)
• Communicate findings to academic and public audiences
• Work ethically with data and partners, documenting limitations and next steps

Program Structure and Thematic Areas

A short, intensive format combining targeted seminars, guided research, and a final capstone brief or presentation.
Faculty mentoring and local supervision ensure structure and accountability throughout.
Programs run 2–6 weeks, with the exact length selected at application.

Each project aligns with a defined research area linking seminars, independent work, supervised mentoring and contextual research in Athens. Themes evolve with partner input and may integrate comparative or applied research component. 
• Cancer Biology & Data Research – mutation patterns, bioinformatics, and public-health implications
• Neurodegeneration & Interdisciplinary Care – systems supporting aging and cognitive health
• Nutrition & Community Health – Mediterranean diet and community-based prevention
Digital Archaeological Heritage : AI-enhanced preservation, analysis, and interpretation of cultural evidence

All research activities are non-clinical, observational, and supervised, in full alignment with ethics, consent, and GDPR practices.
